Welcome to Ara's newsletter that teleports you to Korea!

Hello๐ŸŒŸ Welcome to my first newsletter! I've worked really hard on the first newsletter! Please read it all the way to the end๐Ÿ’Œ Here's what's on today's menu:

1. My favorite Korean dish to enjoy during winter.

2. The most popular names in Korea (2022-2023)

๐Ÿฒ My favorite Korean dish during winter
1. KimChi JJiGae
๐Ÿค— Have you ever come across "Kimchi Jjigae"? It's not just a dish; it's soul food for Koreans, including me! This popular stew is a harmonious blend of spicy kimchi (fermented cabbage with a kick), tofu, pork, and onions.
2. Variations
In kimchi stew, you can jazz it up with pork, canned tuna, or canned mackerel. ๐ŸŸ Some even toss in ramen or spam! ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿฅซ So many variations to try! If you're vegan, just boiling the kimchi alone brings out a rich flavor. ๐ŸŒฑ Pro-tip: Well-fermented kimchi, rather than freshly made, is the way to go! ๐Ÿฅ˜๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘Œ
3. My recommendation
Now, hereโ€™s my favorite Kimchi Jjiage spot in Seoul! The name of this store is 'The Legendary Kimchi Stew (์ „์„ค์˜ ๊น€์น˜์ฐŒ๊ฐœ)' in Mapo. They add instant noodles to the stew and boil it on the spot. When mixed with rice, you can finish a bowl in no time!
Address: ์„œ์šธ ๋งˆํฌ๊ตฌ ๋งˆํฌ๋Œ€๋กœ 63-8 ์ง€ํ•˜1์ธต ์ „์„ค์˜๊น€์น˜์ฐŒ๊ฐœ
(63-8, Mapo-daero, Mapo-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea)
๐Ÿ“Š The most popular names in Korea (2022-2023)

๐ŸŒผ Are you curious about popular baby names in South Korea for 2022-2023? Here's a list for you! ๐Ÿš€๐Ÿผ
Top Boy Names
Korean names are mostly two syllables. There are occasionally one-syllable names, but names with three syllables or more are very rare. In Korea, many male names end with "์ค€"๐Ÿ‘ฆ, like "Park Seo-jun", giving a masculine vibe๐Ÿ’ช. Have you also noticed many names ending with "์šฐ"? Names ending in "์šฐ", such as "Cha Eun-woo", have a soft tone, which is why many female names also end with "์šฐ"๐ŸŒผ.
Top Girl Names

In Korea, a lot of girl names have "์•„" in them. Names with "ใ…‡" often give a cute and soft impression. "์„œ" and "์œค" also sound girly, so they're used a lot for girls. However, there are exceptions like "๋„์œค", ranked 4th for boys. Itโ€™s because "๋„" gives a masculine touch.

Is there one you'd like as your Korean name? If you want to know more about Korean names, look forward to my next blog post!
