Top 4 Filler Words that Every Korean in The World Uses (Trust me, we took a poll at work and all 7 of them agreed.)
This is your "Hmmm...." and can be used anywhere in the sentence to express uncertainty. Or you can use these to buy some time until... hmmm... you find the right words! This sound gives off a more pensive vibe than ์ด.
"Hmm... should we... just give up?"
This is your "Uhhh.." and though very similar to ์ in its flexibility, it has a slightly more surprised tone to it. So if you've been caught off guard by something and need a second to think, you can use ์ด... Don't worry. It doesn't sound as silly or offensive as the english "Uhhh".
"Are you kidding me?" /"No.. I mean... Hm.... Tbh, I have to go to the bathroom..."
This is the.. the.. watchamacallit... Yup, so when you have a hard time remembering that, that... ๊ทธ... particular word, you can use ๊ทธ. You can repeat it until you find the right word.
"Is it because you ate that... that... thing yesterday?
This is the equivalent of the english "like".
It comes from the word ๋ง๊ตฌ which best translates to "recklessly or "strongly". Now if you ask me why they would use that word as a filler, I would tell you that, like, I don't know. Do you know why I just used "like" like that just now? Exactly.
Yeah.. I think I'm going to like die right now."
So there you have it. Something your textbooks won't teach ya! |
