Play True Day 2024

πŸ˜€ What day is April 19, 2024? Play True Day!

In Korea, an offline commemoration event was held to pledge 'Play True Day' in Gimhae. (Gimhae is the host city for the National Sports Festival and Para Sports Festival.)

It was live-streamed on YouTube and online via Zoom, and notable figures from MCST(the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), as well as student-athletes, were present at the venue.

Also, a ceremony of great significance was conducted for the appointment of short-track speed skater Arang Kim as the new Athlete Council member of KADA.
Furthermore, an award ceremony was held to honor those who contributed significantly to anti-doping efforts.
The 'Anti-Doping Slogan Contest' winners, a pre-campaign initiative, were also recognized for their inspiring and impactful slogans.
The attendees were treated to a thought-provoking video themed 'For Fair Competition'. The highlight of the ceremony was the engaging 'Panel Talk', which provided a platform for insightful discussions. The panel featured powerful stories from Moonkyue Shin(WADA Education Committee member & KADA's Education Department Manager), as well as personal experiences related to anti-doping in sports from three KADA Athlete Council members: Seokman Hong(Wheelchair racing), Bobae Ki(Archery), and Donghyun Kim(Bobsleigh). These narratives not only enlightened the audience but also fostered a deep sense of connection and shared commitment to the cause.
And for a surprise event! The 'Anti-Doping Quiz Show,' using an online quiz app, was held.
Lastly, a youth dance crew performance synchronized with the anti-doping campaign song.

✨ Plenty of pre-campaign activities buzzing with excitement!

Starting with the anti-doping slogan contest, which offered a chance to win the Minister of Education Award, to the return of the 'I'm Strong! Promise' Challenge with Season 3! In conjunction with Play True Day, campaigns that everyone could enjoy together were also conducted.

The 'I'm Strong! Promise Challenge' was a resounding success, with about 200 participants sharing photos of themselves 'enjoying sports healthy' using the AR filter feature on Instagram. Your enthusiasm and participation made this campaign a testament to our shared commitment to healthy sports.

🐰Editor Ton-Ton: There were 1,294 entries for the slogan contest!
Our campaign will continue until the day we conquer doping around the world.

This symposium is a bit special.

KADA's Role in the 2024 WADA Symposium - iNADO Workshop!

From March 12th to 13th, KADA embarked on a significant journey to Switzerland, marking our active participation in the annual WADA Symposium.

πŸ‘€ What's the WADA Annual Symposium?

It's the largest annual symposium on anti-doping, held every year in Lausane, Switzerland. This year's theme was "One Mission – One Team."

⭐ KADA's Achievements!

Sunny Seo, the head of KADA's Education Department, made a significant impact as a panelist in the cooperation session between NADO and IF. With the 2025 World Conference on Doping set to be held in Busan, KADA also operated a promotional booth in partnership with the City of Busan and the Busan Tourism Organization to enhance recognition and increase participation. As a result, the 1,000 promotional items prepared were quickly depleted!

βž• How about in iNADO Workshop?

The promotion for the 2025 World Conference on Doping continued at the workshop hosted by the Institute of National Anti-Doping Organizations (iNADO) , which is composed of 59 NADOs. There, KADA shared progress on preparations and the fulfillment of comitments. Additionally, for the first time, KADA athlete council member Junghwa Seo (Vancouver, Sochi, and Pyeong chang Olympian/Mogul Skiing) participated as a panelist in a session on athlete rights, sharing her experiences with doping tests during her athletic career!😚

Completion of KADA-JADA-CHINADA exchange program

πŸ’ͺ The KADA-JADA-CHINADA Cooperation: A Beacon of Success

From January 17th, KADA implemented the three-day KADA-JADA-CHINADA Staff Exchange Program. This program is an exchange initiative that invites practitioners from each NADO to rotate among various specialties. This year, the focus was on information activities, investigations, and results management. We discussed each organization's operational manuals, Investigation, and Results Management case studies.

πŸ‘€ Cases that were bound to surprise

  • A Chinese athlete support personnel was involved in facilitating doping among athletes, creating fake IDs, and swapping urine samples as part of fraudulent activities.
  • In Japan, there was a case where an athlete lost a bag, which was later found by a stadium manager, leading to the discovery of the possession of prohibited substances.

What is the direction of global anti-doping education?

A review of the 2024 WADA Education Conference and KADA's education plans?

The '2024 Global Education Conference' was held in Cannes, France, from February 27th for three days.

🌐 A Global Education Conference? What is it about?

The conference, hosted by WADA, was a platform to reaffirm the importance of anti-doping education and to discuss the latest trends and methodologies in education.

It introduced innovated educational strategies such as developing and planning education programs using 'design thinking' techniques, holistic approaches like the 'human-centered approach', and brainstorming education methods.

⭐ KADA played an active role there too!

Prominent figures, including Amanda Hudson from WADA's education department, were presenter, drawing significant attention.

πŸ“š Then, what is KADA's anti-doping education plan for 2024?
