2024 KADA Anti-Doping Seminar in Asia and 3NADO Leaders' Meeting ๐Ÿ‘

The '2024 KADA Anti-Doping Seminar in Asia' was held on 13-14th May in Seoul!

๐Ÿ’ฌ Anti-Doping Seminar? What is it?

Republic of Korea, a member of World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Foundation Board, has been hosting the International Anti-Doping Seminar every year since 2014 to strengthen anti-doping capacity in the Asian region. 2024 KADA Anti-Doping Seminar was the 11th edition seminar which brought together National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) from 23 countries!

โญ What did we talk about on both days?

On Day 1! NADO leaders met to discuss issues they have been working on over the past year and ways to improve cooperation. Most NADOs agreed on the lack of human and material resources, anti-doping laws, and the challenges of blood sample transportation. They discussed how they can work together to solve these issues.

In the afternoon, the 3NADO(Korea, Japan, China) Leaders' Meeting was also held! The 3NADO Council, which aims to promote cooperation between the three countries, was first formed in 2019 and has held the Secretary Generals' Meeting and 'Staff exchange program' between the three countries since this year. It plays a pivotal role in the fight against doping in Asia by sharing the issues and concerns of NADOs from each country and working more closely with each other!

On Day 2! A seminar was held at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) to share the Results Management(RM) process and critical cases. Mr. Shinhyeong Jang (Manager of Legal & Investigations Dept. in KADA) and Ms. Allison Wagner (Director of Athlete & International Relations in USADA), gave a presentation on 'RM cases from each country,' as there were many interesting cases, the sound of camera shutters was full of the convention hall!
As a member of WADA Foundation Board, KADA will continue to strengthen anti-doping capacity in Asia through various cooperative projects. We look forward to the 'Testing & Analysis Support Project' and 'Anti-Doping Partnership Project' in the years second half.
They're all wanting to sign an MoU with us~ It's a totally lucky-Vicky~~โ™ก

Anti-doping education all over the country ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿ”ฅ Education enthusiasm burning across the country

The enthusiasm for anti-doping education around the country is as hot as the weather, and we've had an especially high number of inquiries and interest in early summer.

๐Ÿ“ Jincheon (Chungbuk)

For the national athletes training hard for the Paris 2024 Olympics in July, KADA visited the Team Korea Jincheon National Training Center to deliver athlete anti-doping guidance with quizzes and wish victory in a fairway.

๐Ÿ“ Seoul

KADA also traveled across the country to meet youths, the rising stars of Korean sports. With the cooperation of 11 District Office of Education in Seoul, KADA provides hands-on anti-doping education to youths in the city. Just like last year's program in Busan, the response from the youths has been very enthusiastic, and the instructors, especially the scholars, have found it very rewarding!

๐Ÿ“ Jeonnam, Busan

KADA visited Jeonnam and Busan Physical Education Schools this year and last. The youths were pleased to learn about anti-doping through quizzes and VR experiences. KADA plans to visit more physical education schools in the second half of this year.

๐Ÿ“ Daegu

In Daegu, KADA held a training session for sports club leaders for the first time. With the recent implementation of the Sports Club Act, the opportunities to participate in sports activities have significantly expanded, so the sports club officials were very interested in the doping control program, such as sample collection procedures.

๐Ÿ“ Jeju Island

Finally, KADA flew to Jeju Island to meet youths on the blue night! KADA participated in the Jeju Future Talent Sports Festival and provided anti-doping education, caregiver education, and outreach to help youths grow into healthy athletes.

Doping Control during the early summer ๐ŸŒณ

๐Ÿ’˜ First mission! Run fast with Doping Control Officers!
เดฆเตเดฆเดฟ*ยฐฯ‰ยฐ*เธ…)*
On June 15, the 2024 Doping Control Officer (DCO) Workshop was held for sharing the DCO's current activities, programs and building  teamwork between KADA and DCOs.๐Ÿ”ฅ

First was the 'Berkman Method'! We had time to explore our personalities and understand each other through this Method.

We also shared our current activities and feedback on the KADA's DCO programs. In addition to this, we had a fun time for teambuilding. We played Archery Curling and other sports for team spirit. For that moment, we were the national team and we were in Paris 2024!

Stay tuned for the KADA's Anti-Doping Program that we are creating together!๐Ÿค

๐Ÿคš The second mission is to conduct impartial doping control during the 53rd Naional Junior Sports Festival!

๐Ÿ˜† The Flawless Completion of the Doping Control!

The National Sports Festival and the Junior Sports Festival have always been together! In 2024, the Junior Sports Festival was held in Jellanam-do where the National Sports Festival was held in October last year with a heat of enthusiasm.
About 12,000 athletes took their first steps to become world-class athletes in a heated competition. KADA successfully completed its doping control program for the youth athletes during the Festival, ensuring a fair and clean environment.

๐Ÿšฉ We are going to Gimhae!

After a short break, the National Sports Festival is coming up in 4 months. The 2024 Festival will be held in Gimhae. KADA will ensure the seamless and flawless doping control program for athletes in October as well.

See you in Fall in Gimhae, the land of Geumgwan Gaya!๐Ÿƒ

Heading to Canada for WADA SHIN meeting๐Ÿ›ซ

๐Ÿ’ป Intelligence and Investigative representatives from around the world!
From May 29 to 31, KADA attended the Annual WADA SHIN meeting. SHIN stands for Sport Human Intelligence Network and is a network of anti-doping stakeholders, including NADOs and International Federations (IFs), who gather to share policies, operations, and practices related to confidential information. This time, the meeting was held at the WADA Headquarter in Montreal, Canada.

Normally about 20 representatives from the ADO Intelligence and Investigations managers attend this meeting and in 2022 KADA attended this meeting as a guest but now as an official member. Only two Asian countries joined the SHIN, Korea and Japan.๐Ÿ˜Ž

One of the main agendas was to review the International Standard for Intelligence and Investigations. This standard, currently in the drafting phase, is being developed by seven members of the WADA working group.

Seperating from the International Standard of Testing and Investigations is a significant development. This move underlines the increasing global movement on the intelligence activities and is a crucial step for strengthening anti-doping programs. The finalization of this standard is scheduled to take place during the 6th World Conference on Doping in Sport in December 2025, and it will come into effect on January 1, 2027. We encourage you to stay updated on the KADA's intelligence and investigations programs as they are being upgraded.
