01. How do you tell someone โ€œMy Korean isnโ€™t very goodโ€ or I canโ€™t speak Koreanโ€? โญ
This is a great question and Iโ€™m sure a phrase that most of you wonโ€™t need (because your Korean is obviously so good already?!?!?!) but IN CASE you stumble upon a situation that you donโ€™t know what to say you can use these phrases! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • ํ•œ๊ตญ๋ง ์ž˜ ๋ชปํ•ด์š” (์ฃ„์†กํ•ฉ๋‹ˆ๋‹ค) - ( han-guk-mal jal mot-hae-yo (cwe-song-ham-ni-da)
      • This phrase means: My Korean isnโ€™t very good (Iโ€™m sorry).

Another great one (because I know you guys are good at Korean ๐Ÿ˜‰) would be:
    • ์ฒœ์ฒœํžˆ ๋ง์”€ํ•ด์ฃผ์‹ค ์ˆ˜ ์žˆ์œผ์„ธ์š”? - cheon-cheon-hi mal-sseum-hae-ju-shil su it-ssu-sae-yo?
      • This phrase means: Can you speak a little slower?

If you want to use a combination of the two, you can say: ํ•œ๊ตญ๋ง ์ž˜ ๋ชปํ•ด์„œ ์ฒœ์ฒœํžˆ ๋ง์”€ํ•ด์ฃผ์‹ค ์ˆ˜ ์žˆ์œผ์„ธ์š”? Which means โ€œIโ€™m not so good at Korean, can you speak slower?โ€

    Hope that helped!!!
    02. Can you teach us Korean slang?
I LOVE slang questions~ Letโ€™s learn a slang word that you can use on the daily ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

    ๊ด€์ข… (gwan-jong)
This is one of those abbreviated slangs that Koreans LOVE to use! Letโ€™s break it down to understand the meaning:
    • ๊ด€ (short for ๊ด€์‹ฌ) which means interest or attention
    • ์ข…(short for ์ข…์ž) which means species or kind (of person)

Put together, it would mean a kind of person who wants attention! In other words, an attention seeker. Of course you can use this as an insult but it is also lighthearted when it is between friends or when the situation calls for it. If you are laughing at your friend who seems to be really really outgoing โ€“ like dancing on a table at a bar or something you can be like omg youโ€™re such a ๊ด€์ข… !!! *In the most loving way possible please donโ€™t use this to insult others or make people feel small!!!!!

    03. This might be a little weird, but I wanted to know about wedding dresses in Korea. Here in the US itโ€™s common that we buy our dresses and keep them as keepsakes. I was just wondering how common that is in Korea because Iโ€™ve heard that they rent their dresses, and I wasnโ€™t sure. โค๏ธ

    Great question!!!

So wedding culture in Korea is SUPER different from wedding culture in the US (from my understanding). While people do value the institution of marriage a lot, the culture of being quick and efficient in Korea really seeps into the wedding culture as well! So, people have photoshoots before the actual wedding (so they donโ€™t have to waste time during the ceremony) and during these photoshoots they rent and wear multiple styles of dresses to get the most pictures possible!

As for the ceremony dress, from my understanding most people do rent them out because it is just more financially efficient โ€“ also there isnโ€™t as much meaning tied to the dress itself as holding a memory. BUT some people definitely do buy their dress and would keep it as a memory (me being one of them)!!! But if you guys want a more detailed newsletter about wedding culture and the differences from the US, I can talk about this FOREVER! So let me know :)
