The 2025 Taejae Future Education Forum, themed “Agentic AI in Education: Possibility and Practice” was successfully held on November 18 and 19. The forum was jointly hosted by the Taejae Future Consensus Institute, Taejae University, and The Chosun Ilbo. Leaders from government, industry, and academia participated in large numbers, including Professor Mihnea Moldoveanu from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, Dr. Paul Kim, former Associate Dean & Chief Technology Officer at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education, Junfeng Li, Vice President of Huawei, Eun Kyung Lee, Principal Designer at Samsung Electronics’ MX (Mobile eXperience) UX Team, and Yongmin Cho, Founder & CEO of UNBOUNDLAB and former Executive Director at Google Korea. Together, they discussed trends in educational innovation in the AI era. |

The forum focused on the fundamental changes that agentic AI brings to the purpose of education and the role of learners. In his welcoming address, President Jaeho Yeom of Taejae University set the overall tone for the forum by posing the question, |

“What kind of educational culture should we design in partnership with AI, and what kind of humans should we cultivate?” |
|
|
World-renowned scholars invited to the forum shared multifaceted insights on how AI will shape the future of education. Professor Moldoveanu explored the potential of AI-powered interactive learning and ways to expand human thinking and social relationships. Professor Mairéad Pratschke discussed educational ethics and policy in the era of agentic AI, emphasizing the need to redesign educational settings. Dr. Kim stressed the importance of education moving beyond the narrow focus of college entrance and seeking to create new forms of work, while Vice President Li spoke on the need to balance technological capabilities with those of humans. The experts highlighted learner autonomy as a key factor in the agentic AI era, suggesting that as technology becomes more autonomous, education must be restructured so that learners can design and explore their own learning paths. |

In addition to discussions on AI technology, the 2025 Taejae Future Education Forum served as a platform for educational innovation centered around the collaborative structure between AI and humans. Taejae Research Foundation Signs Contracts for First Two Projects of the “Taejae Research Foundation-Weizmann Institute Korea-Israel Joint Cooperative Research Project (TWCJRP)” |

Taejae Research Foundation has completed contracts for the first and second research projects under the Taejae Research Foundation-Weizmann Institute Korea-Israel Joint Cooperative Research Project (TWCJRP), a collaborative endeavor pursued in partnership with Israel’s Weizmann Institute of Science. |
|
|
The theme of the first research project is “Self-healing perovskite LEDs: A pathway for energy-efficient and sustainable solid-state city lighting.” This project will be jointly led by Professor Dan Oron of the Weizmann Institute of Science and Professor Himchan Cho of KAIST. |
|
|
The second project, titled “Scalable and Sustainable Electrochromic Materials for Energy-Efficient Windows,” is being jointly run by Professor Milko E. van der Boom of the Weizmann Institute of Science and Professor Lee Sun-young of Hanyang University. |
|
|
Taejae Research Foundation plans to provide a total of $720,000 in funding for each research project over the next three years. The Foundation hopes that this collaborative research with the world-class Weizmann Institute of Science will contribute to enhancing Korea’s research capabilities in these fields. Moving forward, Taejae Research Foundation will continue to identify and support ambitious and innovative projects that contribute to humanity and society through collaborative international research. 🤝 |

Taejae University President Jaeho Yeom was invited to appear on Keystone Higher Ed Chats, a global podcast specializing in higher education. The interview, titled “How Taejae University Is Building the University of the Future with AI,” was released globally on October 15 via Spotify and Apple Podcasts. |

|
During the discussion, President Yeom emphasized that the era of simply imparting knowledge is over, adding that “AI and digital innovation are fundamentally transforming the very essence of higher education.” He further stated, “Universities must evolve from lecture-centered spaces into student-driven learning communities where students learn independently, collaborate, and solve problems.” |
|
|
He also described Taejae University’s innovative Global Rotations educational model, explaining, “Our students travel to seven cities across five countries, directly experiencing local cultures and social issues and then connecting these experiences to academic projects, which expands the boundaries of learning.” |
|
|
In addition, President Yeom highlighted the positive impact of AI technology on university education. “AI can provide both professors and students with personalized feedback and opportunities for creative challenges,” he said, adding, “This is why teachers must evolve from simple conveyors of knowledge into facilitators who design the structure of learning.” |

|
He explained that Taejae University aims to bring about “human-centered education for the AI era” through a converged form of education that spans technology, the humanities, business, and ethics. “Taejae students don’t just gain knowledge, they become individuals who question the world and instigate change,” he stated, underscoring the university’s educational philosophy. |

In his paper Tariffs, Deals and Multilateral Ideals: Can the World Trade Organization Survive?, published last October, international trade law scholar Petros C. Mavroidis analyzes the impact of the United States’ bilateral trade deal strategy on the WTO system. |

The Trump administration’s tariffs and the proliferation of bilateral deals are disrupting the long-standing system in which the WTO functioned as the central forum for shaping international trade rules. At the same time, the United States has maintained its status as a WTO member while failing to uphold its core obligations, thereby structurally constraining the WTO’s ability to enforce rules. |

|
The global trade order is currently shifting toward a configuration characterized by increasing overlap among multilateral, bilateral, and regional rules. As a result, the WTO is no longer positioned as the singular center of trade governance, but as one trade regime among several others. In this environment, Korea has also participated in US-led bilateral deals, as evidenced by the US–Korea Joint Fact Sheet. This development highlights the need for a trade strategy that goes beyond compliance with rules and combines strategic coordination capabilities with policy flexibility and leverage in negotiations. |
