Inside 2027 Chungcheong
Launching a Website for Chungcheong 2027 WUG

We are incredibly proud to announce the online platform where you can communicate with the CMBC beyond time and space. On 1 October, the website was officially launched by the CMBC to share the news, key activities, and bidding campaigns of Chungcheong with the world. Please visit the official website at http://www.2027chungcheong.com.

The website used "Step, Jump, Leap Together" as its key visuals to run together toward hosting the 2027 WUG. The four main categories of the website are World University Games, Chungcheong 2027, News, and With Us. It provides recent news and key information regarding the WUG, the close tie between the WUG and the Republic of Korea, and a competition management plan envisioned by CMBC.

With a user-friendly space configuration, you can quickly find the information you need or look for at a glance. Furthermore, the user interface makes it easy for visitors to access to Facebook and Instagram, and other social media of the CMBC.

The official website is the go-to location if you want to see and hear how the CMBC makes its headway on the journey to the 2027 WUG. It will serve as a hub site that facilitates communication and interaction among users and visitors. It is open 24/7 and only a click away!

Tomorrow's stars
Chungcheong is the hometown of many world-class sports stars such as Pak Seri (Golf), Park Chan Ho and Ryu Hyun Jin (Baseball), Kim Young-ho (Fencing), and Kim Se-jin (Volleyball). As mentioned in the fourth edition newsletter, the performance of the athletes from Chungcheong was astonishing at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Here we introduce the rising young stars from Chungcheong who will lead the future of university sports.

Winning the National Championship with Golden ‘Touche’
“Fencing is a sport of elegance and manners, and so appealing as it is dynamic and exciting at the same time.”, said the Daejeon’s Munjeong Middle School fencing players, which won the girls’ middle school Épée at the 50th National Junior Sports Festival. The team, composed of Yu Da-hyeon, Heo Se-eun, Jeong Seo-young, and Kim Yeon-hee showed fantastic teamwork and won the gold medal in the team event.

The Munjeong Middle School fencing team of 10 fencers, including the four gold medalists, has achieved remarkable results in various competitions since its foundation in 1994. It has been recognized as the most powerful fencing team in the country.

The young fencers started fencing with different motivations. Still, they all said in unison that they learned to challenge themselves beyond the limit and respect each other through the discipline of fencing.

As they are currently living and honing their fencing skills in Chungcheong, they hoped to see the 2027 WUG take place in Chungcheong and expressed their strong wish, “We will participate in the 2027 WUG as a university student-athlete .”

Let us look forward to the wonderful performances of the Munjeong fencing players at 2027 WUG!

Inside 2027 Chungcheong
Non-stop flow of online cheering from Chungcheong
The people of the Chungcheong region have proactively joined the online support campaign to host the Chungcheong 2027 WUG. It has attracted many followers in its track, along with enthusiastic responses and likes. Last July began the online campaign to raise interest in the bid for the WUG and create a WUG boom in the region. The name of the campaign is “Cheering for Chungcheong with U!.”

Four governors and mayors set the first spark of the campaign: Daejeon Mayor Her Tae-Jeong, Sejong Mayor Lee Choon-hee, Chungbuk Gov. Lee Si-Jong, Chungnam Gov. Yang Seung-jo showed how excited they are with the grand plan to host the Chungcheong 2027 in the region by waving the hosting slogan banner “Step, Jump, Leap Together.” As it was an online challenge event and a relay passing the flag to the next runner, many Chungcheong community leaders joined the campaign one after another. They spread the spirit and enthusiasm for the Chungcheong 2027 WUG to the local community.

It has been only four months since we started the campaign and have already drawn out the active participation of about 500 people. Moreover, as the video clip of the support campaign by the leaders rapidly spreads through social media, Chungcheong people’s wish and enthusiasm is growing bigger and bigger. The CMBC will continue this online relay campaign to spread university sports spirit nationwide.

The Sejong National Assembly building will be completed in Sejong, the country's administrative capital, in 2027.
