On August 18, 2025, the ASEZ, International University Student Volunteer Group held a Zero Plastic 2040 campaign seminar at the Nampally Metropolitan Criminal Court Bar Association (MCCBA) and the High Court Advocates Association of Telangana, the state’s highest court, in Hyderabad, India. As the event took place within the influential legal community, it carried the powerful message that the change of one individual can ripple across society. |

ASEZ Participates in INC-5.2, Hosts “Zero Plastic 2040” Forum in Munich

On August 14, 2025, the resumed session of the fifth meeting of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-5.2) on the Global Plastics Treaty concluded in Geneva, Switzerland, drawing heightened international attention to the urgency of ending plastic pollution. Against this backdrop, ASEZ—an official participant in INC-5.2—hosted the “Zero Plastic 2040” Forum in Munich, Germany, on August 18 to explore practical solutions.

The world is now facing a plastic crisis. According to the OECD, by 2060 global plastic use and waste are expected to triple. However, the recycling rate remains at only 9%. The solution is clear: reduce plastic production itself. To address this crisis, the international community agreed at the 2022 United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-5.2) to establish a legally binding international plastics treaty by 2024. |
