Manifesting Youth's Passion

Seoul's largest and oldest university district, brimming with as many stories as its long history, making it a place where you can trace the footprints of the university culture and student movements of the '70s and '80s. The Oraegage Youth & Passion Road introduces places with a 50-plus year history in Sinchon, fromHongik Books, a popular meet-up spot, that was once on the brink of shutdown but has continued to hold its ground thanks to local support, and Phaedra, once the sanctuary for students during democratic movements.

As one of the prestigious universities in Korea, Yonsei University particularly boasts a beautiful campus accentuated by the 100-year old stone building, Underwood Hall, which is frequently featured in movies and advertisements. Also, Dok-dabang is an indispensable part of Sinchon University district's stories. The view from the terrace overlooking Sinchon street is purely romantic.

 Autumn Palace Stroll

One of the most delightful ways to fully appreciate this picturesque season in Seoul is to take a stroll through the royal palaces.Gyeongbokgung Palace, the grandest of the Joseon Dynasty, is where you can experience the pinnacle of autumn. From the entrance at Gwanghwamun Gate to the deepest reaches of Hyangwonjeong Pavilion, the entire palace is adorned with a variety of colors bestowed by nature.Take a romantic stroll along the stone wall, experience the tranquil beauty of the palace grounds with its shimmering dancheong and colorful autumn foliage in the sunlight before venturing over to feel the autumn ambience of Deoksugung Palace, which is also stunning at night.

Changgyeonggung Palace is the only one facing east among Seoul's palaces, making it a suitable place to appreciate the essence of this season. You can explore all the charming spots, such as Chundangji Pond, where even the pond water turns the color of autumn with fallen leaves, the warm Changgyeonggung Greenhouse, and Changdeokgung Palace's Secret Garden.

In addition to the palaces, the outdoor garden of the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History offers up a memorable panoramic view of the Gwanghwamun Plaza. Read more on the Visit Seoul website to help you find a little inspiration this fall in downtown Seoul.
