These days, short form videos like Reels and Shorts dominate our screens. It's true that they're stimulating and entertaining. Even I find myself watching them for hours 😂. But just as e-books can’t fully replace the charm of physical books, can videos ever truly surpass the unique power of photographs? A single photo has the ability to bring back forgotten moments, reminding us of the weather, our emotions, the thoughts we had, the conversations we shared, and even the music playing in the background. In a world that moves so fast, we often need moments of reflection. And photography serves as the perfect medium for that. So today, I capture the small yet precious moments that will become my memories of yesterday. Click! 📸

🎧 Photograph - Ryuichi Sakamoro, Paula Morelenbaum, Jaques Morelenbaum

The album that first got me hooked on bossa nova was this one, a collection of Antonio Carlos Jobim’s compositions performed by Ryuichi Sakamoto. The smooth and tranquil melodies blend effortlessly with Paula Morelenbaum’s soothing voice.

The lyrics “You and I, just us two. Alone on a terrace by the sea. The sun sets, and I see the colors of the ocean change in your eyes.” exude pure romance. Is the song suggesting that our moments together are like a photograph? Or is it about wanting to preserve our time together in a picture? As I listen, I paint a beautiful seascape in my mind.

a year ago, what were you doing?

We often flip through old albums, reminiscing about the past.

Let’s take a look back, what were we doing on this day last year?

Marketer Gilyong’s Memoir

August 25, 2022, 5:43 AM, It was my first day at work as an intern, before joining grds. Determined to live a “productive life,” I woke up at dawn, meditated, exercised, and got ready for work. Nervous yet excited, I looked out the window and saw a breathtaking morning sky. I snapped a photo to capture the moment, not realizing that a whole year would pass so quickly. Time really flies. ⏱️

Designer Hyeonwoo’s Memoir

August 25, 2022, marked nearly a year since I joined grds. It was also the day our office mascot, Oa, paid us a visit. Oa was dressed in a brand new outfit that day, making them look even cuter than usual. I don’t get to spend much time with him, but just watching him in the office is enough to brighten my day. 🌿 Knowing that Oa will be at the office always gives me something to look forward to.

Marketer Chaerin’s Memoir

On August 25 last year, I had a cream coffee. With some free time before ballet class, I stopped by Comfy Cafe near the office and treated myself to coffee and a financier. Lately, I’ve been so busy that I rush straight from work to class, barely getting a moment to breathe. Maybe it’s time to slow down and enjoy a quiet coffee break again. Inner peace…

Have you ever observed an object or place over an extended period, noticing how its appearance shifts depending on time, perspective, and mood? This photo book compiles Kyoungtae Kim’s photographs and videos of Swiss dams, capturing the photographer’s unique perspective and emotions. Imagining his thoughts as he frames each shot makes flipping through this book even more engaging.

A sleek black camera pouch from Kitty Bunny Pony, featuring an adorable rabbit detail.

Tossing your camera into a big bag can lead to scratches on the lens or make it hard to grab quickly when the perfect shot appears. That’s where this pouch comes in—compact, convenient, and designed to keep your camera safe from dust, water, and everyday bumps. A must-have for capturing moments effortlessly!

Toy cameras are making a nostalgic comeback! Though the image quality is low and transferring photos to a phone can be annoying, the charm of carrying a camera solely for taking pictures is irresistible. Priced around 30,000 KRW, it also makes for a thoughtful birthday gift.

"No other kind of relic or text from the past can offer such a direct testimony about the world which surrounded other people at other times.

In this respect images are more precise and richer than literature."
