Delve into the characteristics of ‘secondary roles’ that cause the Sub-lead's Fever
There's a famous incurable disease among drama fans: Sub-lead Fever, when you get this disease you care more about the sub-lead than the main character! Let's take a look at some of the supporting actors (hereafter referred to as sub-lead) who are responsible for this Sub-lead Fever.
💚 Rule 1 <The charm of being the opposite of the male protagonist>.

If the male lead is brusque, the female sub-lead is sweet! Sub-leads keep viewers in a happy dilemma with their contrasting charms. Choi Young-do of The Heirs was a brusque but genuine man who couldn't help himself from love, in contrast to the straight-laced Kim Tan. Kim Woo-bin made Korea "suffer through Young-do" with his mean but charming character! "I like you too much," "Don't be like that. I'm nervous" and many other gems were created. The male sub-lead, who adds tension to the main couple's relationship, should be just as charming as the main character.

💚 Rule 2 <A solid narrative that can compete with the male protagonist>
“A solid narrative with the female lead” is also a must for an attractive sub-lead, and Jung Hwan from "Reply 1988" is a prime example of this, as he made viewers cry "however his husband is Ryu Jun Yeol". Jung-hwan (Ryu Jun-yeol) had a longtime crush on his childhood friend Deok-sun (Hye-ri), and he showed his blunt but affectionate charm by waiting for her at the gate to fix her shoelaces or picking her up late at night when she didn't come home from school. Deok-sun also developed a crush on Jung-hwan, but the two were unable to confirm their feelings and their timing was off. Because the drama had a more detailed relationship with Jung-hwan than the male lead, Tae-yi (Park Bo-gum), viewers were shocked when Hye-ri's husband was revealed. In fact, after the drama ended, viewers commented, "I don't understand why Deok-sun suddenly fell in love with Tae-yi," and "The drama suddenly became inconsistent.

💚 Rule 3 <A sunflower that only looks at the female lead>.

Do you know what a sub-lead should never do? “Look at another girl than the female-lead” No matter if he's mean, blunt or sweet, he should only have eyes for the female lead, and that's exactly what Hee-sung (Byun Yo-han) does in "Mr. Sunshine". Hee-sung was Ae-shin's (Kim Tae-ri) right hand man, but he studied in Japan to avoid marriage. He comes back to Joseon after 10 years to get married, much to his mother's disapproval. He falls in love with the faceless Ae-shin the moment he sees her and puts his free life on hold. He courts her, but she demands a divorce. He loves her so much that he postpones the marriage and lives as her shadow, helping out in the revelion. In the end, Hee-sung is so in love with her that he leaves her and ends their relationship himself. It's hard not to fall for a guy who looks like a joker on the outside, but is serious and thoughtful on the inside.

💚 Rule 4 <Captivate your audience with a compelling backstory>

When it comes to sub-leads that stick with you, you can't go wrong with a "heartbreaker", and “Hotel Del Luna”'s sub-lead Cheong-myeong (Lee Do-hyun) is a prime example. He was once in love with Man-wol (IU). They met as bandits and bodyguards and had a happy time together, but their relationship ended when Cheong-myeong betrayed Man-wol. Angered by his betrayal, Man-wol killed him, but he had a reason. Cheong-myeong decided to betray Man-wol to save her life. "You live as a traitor so that Man-wol can live," Cheong-myeong decided to remain a traitor. After that, Cheong-myeong dies, but instead of going to the afterlife, he turns into a firefly and stays at Man-wol's side for a thousand years. His love is so strong that even death can't separate them... What could be more poignant?

These are just a few of the characters and their characteristics that have made Korea fall in love with the sub-leads. We can't wait to see what other sub-leads will give viewers the "Sub-lead's Fever" in the future!

🎬The meeting between Korean movies and 🎤K-POP!

Smugglers' is the first of this summer's Korean tentpole movies. Smugglers' has accumulated over 3.53 million viewers and is expected to break even. It's been a long time since we've seen a movie that didn't break even and failed at the box office! Smugglers' was directed by Ryu Seung Wan and captivated audiences with its wild action and hilarious dialogue. The movie was highly anticipated because of its stellar cast, including Kim Hye-soo, Yeom Jung-ah, and Jo In-sung.

But what makes the movie stand out is its aggressive marketing strategy. When we think of movie promotions, we think of stage greetings, promotional broadcast appearances, and interviews. But Smugglers actively uses audience participation marketing that has been used in K-POP. Let's see what it is.
The most talked about event of the day was the video autograph session! This is an event where fans can talk to the actors via video call, which is a popular way to sell albums in the K-pop industry, which has a large overseas fan base. This is the first time that Smugglers has done this in the movie industry, and it's rare for actors to do this, so many fans rushed to the theater to see it.

Smugglers is set in the 1970s, so we had a retro premiere event to match, with a dress code of "retro attire" for the audience. Dress code events are more familiar to the K-pop industry than the movie industry, as fans often dress to match at fan meetings and concerts!

Not only that, but the actress Go Min-Sae who plays Ok-bun the tea shop owner in the movie, has been meeting with audiences at coffee shops, creating pop-up zones with a tea shop concept so that more people can experience the movie, and even creating an official website with information about the movie and gaming events, a method that was popular in the 2000s.

Of course, some people are concerned that this kind of marketing could hinder the development of Korean cinema by emphasizing marketing over the quality of the movie. Only actors with large fan bases who can make the event a success are cast, and new actors may lose their place in the industry. There are many other issues that have been raised.

However, the Korean film industry has been in a downturn for a long time. This year, the total number of people visiting theaters on a daily basis has decreased by about 100,000 compared to last year. Compared to 2019, the year before the pandemic and the theater price hike, the number of people visiting theaters has decreased by about 400,000. As the number of people has decreased, the competition between movies has become more intense. In such a situation, it was inevitable that aggressive marketing would be used to promote the movie. Of course, you always have to be careful not to put the marketing before the movie!

Shouldn't true idols be in relationships?

Seventeen member Joshua is in the news for living a passionate romance with his regular girlfriend.

For the past seven days, "Joshua's girlfriend" and "idol relationship" have been at the top of Twitter's live trends.

The posts contained evidence that Joshua was involved in a so-called "lovestagram" with a woman, A, who was a person not related to the industry

According to the post, Joshua and A set up a couple profile picture on their Instagram profiles, uploaded photos of them wearing various couple items, and posted dating photos to their personal social media accounts.

There was also evidence that when Joshua went on tour overseas, his girlfriend followed him.

When fans saw the evidence, they expressed bitterness, saying, "We are sorry we didn't know you better.

Fans aren't outraged because Joshua is in a relationship.

Fans were angry about “Joshua's attitude”.

Fans were upset that he neglected to upload to Weavers, a paid communication app for fans, and that last year was the last time he did a personal live broadcast, But the biggest outrage was that his only personal social media was being used to post his girlfriend's Lovestagram.

Others have gotten into trouble for posting about their girlfriends.

Unlike in the past, idol relationships are no longer taboo.

Rather, the trend is that it's private and should be protected.

However, it's an unspoken rule that both idols and fans should keep their relationships under wraps as much as possible.

But Joshua didn't even bother to hide the fact that he was in a relationship, he was open about it and deceived his fans.

It's not a sin for an idol to be in a relationship, but it's disrespectful to their fans.

Without fans, there would be no idols.

Idols are not obligated to not be in a relationship,

but I hope they realize that they have an obligation to communicate with their fans and "try" to keep their relationship from being discovered.

"Fan sign Items" are the new big thing these days!🧸
It's a one-of-a-kind opportunity to talk to your favorite idol in a Fan sign! and the competition to get in on the action is fierce. For the lucky fans, the fan service never stops, with idols posing in a variety of different ways! They also wear various items to showcase the poses and outfits their fans want to see. This is what we call "fansa" in Korean, or (fan signing) items! There are also trends in fan sign items, so let's take a look at what's trending these days.
💗 Racing Jacket

Intense and dangerous at the same time! The racing jacket is undoubtedly one of the hottest fan sign items right now. It's a garish piece of clothing with enough patches to draw attention to itself, but enough to make your favorite face proud.

💗 Adidas Jersey
Speaking of perfect fit and sweatpants... Adidas jerseys are also a big trend. You know that feeling you get when you're just plain, but still look cool? Adidas jerseys have the uncanny ability to make even the most prestigious celebrities fly off the shelves. They instantly make you the protagonist of one of the most popular Internet stories of all time: "Why I'm attracted to bad boys", "He was cool" or "He won't change".
💗 Police Vest
With a long history of fans loving uniforms, "Police" items are a perennial fan favorite, and one of the most popular is the Police Vest! Worn during operations and in dangerous situations, this vest adds to the cool and collected look, especially when paired with a toy gun! If you want to see your favorite crime movie hero in action, you can't miss this one.
💗 Animal Headband

You know what they say about classics that last forever, and animal headbands are one of the longest-running items in the Fan Signs collection. I'm always on the lookout for headbands that resemble my favorite animals or characters. Idols wearing these headbands are full of adorable poses that maximize their cute and adorable charm... I guess there's a reason why animal headbands have been around for so long!

Today we've covered a variety of other popular fan sign items, including glasses, English newspapers, face chains, and uniforms. Fans carefully prepare items to capture their favorite aspects of the idol, and the idol shows off his or their receptivity skills to return the love! We hope that fans will continue to enjoy the variety of dressing items available to them🥰!

Why K-Pop should clean up the Jamboree's disaster.

Fans are outraged that K-pop is being blamed for the Jamboree debacle. The Jamboree, a large-scale international event that brings together scouts from all over the world, was held in Buan, South Korea on August 1. With 152 countries participating and over 40,000 people in attendance, it was the largest event in history. However, the event became controversial due to a lack of preparation, including a lack of heat measures, hygiene, and health issues, and a typhoon that forced all participants to leave the campsite. The government's trump card in the midst of the embarrassment was a K-POP concert.

In response to the news of the K-Pop concert, National Assembly member Sung Il-jong wrote on social media, "I hope the Ministry of National Defense will support BTS's participation in the Jamboree K-Pop concert on the 11th." Since two of the seven members of BTS are in the military, the Defense Ministry should step in and allow them to perform on stage. Fans reacted strongly to the idea of BTS being used as a guilt-release card. Fans strongly reacted to the idea of BTS being mentioned as a card to make up for the disastrous jamboree, calling it a "manipulation of public power" and saying, "It's like a mockery or an insult to put them on an unprepared stage." In response to the controversy, Sung clarified, "I'm not suggesting that we should just pull them out, but that we should consider all the ways we can compensate for the damage to our national image."

In the end, the borrowing didn't happen, but the "2023 World Scout Jamboree K-POP Super Live" will go ahead as scheduled on Nov. 11th at the Sangam World Cup Stadium. Organizing broadcaster KBS released a partial lineup, saying, "Top singers such as Newjeans, G-Dragon, NCT Dream, and MAMAMOO will be in attendance." Some of the cast members of KBS2's "Music Bank," which will be canceled that day, are also expected to appear on stage.  However, this has been criticized as 'unilateral withdrawal'. It's a sudden call-up of singers with no time to prepare for the performance, and it's mobilizing K-Pop singers for a national event that was actually canceled early amidst various controversies. In fact, Solar from MAMAMOO, who was scheduled to perform, tweeted, "They Called MAMAMOO to the Jamboree. MAMAMOO, not MAMAMOO+. Is this possible?," she wrote.

In the past, during a press conference for the album's release, Sung Shi-Kyung pointed out that "K-pop is naturally born and naturally loved," and that "sometimes it's uncomfortable to see people treat something that was done well by their own agency as if it was organized by Korea”. K-pop is not a national business, and the Jamboree is a world scouting competition, not a world K-pop competition. The government's complacency to blame a K-pop concert for a failed event is overly coercive and violent. It's time to realize that the government's attempts to spoon-feed from K-pop's success are actually devaluing it.
