Young people on first climate strikes since COP26

*2021년 유엔기후변화협약 당사국총회(COP26) 

Young people in Scotland are taking part in climate strikes for the first time since the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (commonly referred to as COP26). They are calling for faster action on climate change as they believe little has been done since the conference. Although the Glasgow Climate Pact—the first-ever explicit plan to cut back coal—was reached following COP26, activists don’t think it’s enough to limit temperature rise to 1.5°C.

IKEA put CCTV above toilets to check drug use

Surveillance cameras installed in a void (빈 공간) above toilets to catch illegal drug activity accidentally filmed other areas of the toilets at an IKEA distribution center in Peterborough, England. The cameras, first placed in 2015, were only supposed to film within the void, but when ceiling tiles became loose, other areas were visible. IKEA issued an apology, explaining that no one was filmed and its policies had been “revised.”

Putin eyeing ‘Korean scenario’ for Ukraine, says Ukrainian military chief

Russian President Vladimir Putin could be looking to split Ukraine in two—like North and South Korea—says Brigadier General Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Agency. Budanov explained that Russia’s failed operations around the Ukrainian city of Kyiv make it impossible for the Russian army to overthrow the Ukrainian government. Putin is now redirecting his focus to the south and east of the country.
