D-day! The 13th WHRCF

The 13th World Human Rights Cities Forum will be held over the next four days, under the theme of "Human Rights Cities Responding to Poverty and Inequalities."

During this year's Forum, approximately 370 speakers from 60 cities in 26 countries will gather to discuss the issues of poverty and inequalities from a human rights perspective, as well as identify human rights-based measures that can be taken at the local level.

We invite you to join us at the 13th World Human Rights Cities Forum, which features a variety of 35 programs, including the Opening Ceremony and Roundtable, Thematic Sessions, and entertaining side events!

The Opening Ceremony and Roundtable are scheduled for today at 4 p.m. KST and 9 a.m. CET, and will prompt discussions on the overall theme. The Opening Ceremony will begin with the traditional play "Nolbu and the Lion," performed by local artists addressing the main theme of the Forum. It will be followed by welcoming remarks from the Mayor of Gwangju and congratulatory remarks from the UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights and UNESCO Assistant Director-General.

Chang Ha-joon, a professor of economics at SOAS University of London, a world-renowned economist, and author of bestsellers including "23 Things They Don't Tell You," among others, will deliver the keynote speech, sharing his insights on poverty and inequalities.

During the Roundtable, city representatives from various regions, including the Deputy Mayor of Warsaw, the Mayor of Sinkawang, and the Deputy Mayor of Leipzig, along with experts, will share exemplary local policies and practices and discuss practical policy measures to address poverty and inequality at the local level.
