조각가이자 설치 미술가인 아드리안 비야르 로하스는 점토, 시멘트, 유기물, 폐기물 등 다양한 재료를 활용해 장소 특정적인 작품을 선보여 왔습니다. 파괴와 변형의 시간성이 담긴 작업들을 통해 디스토피아적인 미래의 전경을 만드는데요. 곧 개최될 작가의 한국 첫 개인전 《아드리안 비야르 로하스: 적군의 언어》는 아트선재센터 전체를 하나의 무대로 삼아, 낯설고 기이하면서도 매혹적인 작업들이 펼쳐질 예정입니다!
Adrián Villar Rojas has long created site-specific works using a hybrid mix of organic, inorganic, and synthetic materials. His practice—rooted in themes of destruction and transformation—often conjures forgotten ecosystems and dystopian visions of the future. Adrián Villar Rojas: The Language of the Enemy, the artist’s first solo exhibition in Korea, will transform the entire Art Sonje Center into a stage for his strange, uncanny, and mesmerizing creations.

지난 7월 뉴스레터에서 소개해드린 《오프사이트 2: 열한 가지 에피소드》가 본격적인 준비 과정에 있습니다! 한국 여성, 퀴어 미술, 신체와 정체성을 탐색하는 조형과 서사 실험을 선보이는 이번 전시에는 차세대 한국 여성 및 젠더 퀴어 작가 11팀, 곽소진, 루킴, 문상훈, 성재윤, 야광, 윤희주, 장영해, 조현진, 하지민, 한솔, 홍지영이 참여합니다. 프리즈 위크(9월 3일부터 6일) 기간 동안에는 루킴, 야광, 장영해, 하지민 작가의 퍼포먼스도 함께 선보일 예정입니다. 전시 제목 ‘오프사이트(off-site)’에 걸맞게, 도산공원, 코엑스, 국제갤러리 K2, (투게더)(투게더) 등 서울 곳곳의 다양한 장소에서 퍼포먼스가 펼쳐질 예정이니 많은 관심 부탁드립니다!
off-site 2: Eleven Episodes, which we introduced in our July newsletter, is now well underway in preparation! The exhibition features a total of 11 artist/teams, including Sojin Kwak, Ru Kim, Moon Sanghoon, Jaeyun Sung, Yagwang, Hiju Yoon, Younghae Chang, Jo Hyunjin, Jimin Hah, Sol Han, and Hong Jiyoung. During Frieze Week (September 3–6), performances by artists Lu Kim, Yagwang, Jang Younghae, and Haji Min will also be presented. True to its title, off-site, the performances will unfold across various locations throughout Seoul—including Dosan Park, COEX, KUKJE GALLERY K2, and (TOGETHER)(TOGETHER). We look forward to your interest and participation!

올해도 어김없이 개최되는 DMZ 전시 소식을 전합니다! 2012년부터 시작된 DMZ 프로젝트는 비무장지대라는 특별한 장소를 배경으로, 이곳에 스며든 폭력의 기억과 경계 짓기의 흔적, 그리고 그로 인해 역설적으로 살아난 생태계가 공존하는 풍경을 다룹니다. 10명의 참여 작가들은 이러한 장소가 지닌 경계적 속성을 각자의 방식으로 탐구합니다. 그 작업들이 궁금하시다면, 8월 11일부터 11월 5일까지 개최되는 전시에 찾아와 주세요!
We’re excited to share that the DMZ exhibition is returning again this year as always! Launched in 2012, the DMZ Project is set against the unique backdrop of the Demilitarized Zone, exploring a landscape where traces of violence, the memory of division, and—paradoxically—the thriving ecosystem that emerged from it all coexist. 10 participating artists each engage with the complex and layered nature of this border zone in their own way. If you're curious about their work, we warmly invite you to visit the exhibition, on view from August 11 to November 5!

아트선재센터의 개관 전시였던 《싹》이 개최된 지 올해로 30년이 되었습니다. 박영숙, 이불, 안규철, 박모 등 한국 현대미술을 대표하는 작가들이 당시 신진 작가로 참여했던 전시입니다. 이를 기념해 미술관은 인스타그램을 통해 ‘리비짓(Revisit)’이라는 제목 아래, 지난 주요 전시 장면들을 다시 소개하고 있습니다. 첫 게시글이 공개되자 마자, 한 분은 대학생 시절 《싹》 전시를 관람했던 기억을 떠올리며 축하 메시지를 전해주셨습니다! 함께 축하해 주셔서 감사합니다😊
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Ssack, the opening exhibition of Art Sonje Center. At the time, artists such as Park Youngsook, Lee Bul, Ahn Kyuchul, and Park Mo—now recognized as leading figures in contemporary Korean art—participated in the show as emerging artists. To commemorate the occasion, the museum is revisiting key moments from past exhibitions under the title “Revisit” on Instagram. As soon as the first post went live, one follower shared a congratulatory message, recalling their visit to Ssack as a university student. Thank you for celebrating with us! |
