1️⃣ Thank You for Shaping the Future of Asian Content with Us
|
|
|
Where Future of Asian Content Is Decided - ACFM 2026 has completed its four-day journey. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us in Busan once again.
This year, ACFM took "Core and Expansion" as its theme: a commitment to holding firm at the center of the Asian film industry while broadening our reach into IP, series, documentary, and technology. That InnoAsia, The A, and Doc Square, all launched last year, have taken root and deepened in just one year is thanks to all of you.
In particular, through the Investor Summit and Cinema by Brand, we created a space where creators could meet new sources of funding. Beyond traditional film investment, we sought to open up possibilities for brands and tech companies to collaborate with creators. We believed that finding new channels for collaboration is a market's role, especially in difficult times, and you answered with remarkable interest and participation.
A market is ultimately completed by the people who fill it. Those who return year after year and those who knocked on ACFM's door for the first time filled the booths, meeting rooms, event halls, and corridors, and that is what turned four days at BEXCO into a living market. It is you who made ACFM complete.
I have long hoped ACFM would be an oasis: a place where travelers on their own paths gather to refill their water and share news, then set out again on their own way. At a time when the boundaries of cinema are blurring and the market is reshaping, this year's oasis also became a place where we pooled our wisdom to find our direction together.
To keep that oasis filled with clear water and ample provisions for every traveler - that is why we are here. I also extend my deep gratitude to the ACFM staff and volunteers who prepared everything behind the scenes throughout the year and held their ground until the very last moment.
Next October, we look forward to welcoming you back to Busan, with a firmer core and a wider horizon.
Ellen Y. D. KIM Director of the Asian Contents & Film Market

2️⃣ Asian Contents & Film Market 2026
Holds First Integrated Awards Ceremony |
|
|
Asian Contents & Film Market 2026 held its first integrated ACFM Awards Ceremony on 13 October and announced this year’s award recipients and support allocations.
This year, ACFM introduced its first integrated awards ceremony, bringing together awards and support initiatives from the Asian Cinema Fund (ACF), Busan Story Market (BSM), InnoAsia, Doc Square and Asian Project Market (APM). Across 17 categories, cash prizes, production and post-production support, and invitations to international industry events worth approximately KRW 480 million were provided.
ACF provided a total of KRW 140 million in support to three international co-production projects involving Korea, while two original IP titles at BSM received the JAFF Market IP Connection Award. InnoAsia recognized three startups presenting innovative technologies, and three documentary projects received awards at Doc Square. Among them, Restless Farewell received both the IMPACT Asia Award and the Newstapa Award. At APM, eight projects received awards across 11 categories, with Goldfish winning three awards and A Chronicle of Minor Things (working title) receiving two.
Each time the name of a project or creator was announced, the room filled with cheers and applause. As recipients celebrated their own achievements and applauded those of their peers, the shared passion of creators bringing new stories to life could be felt throughout the ceremony.
ACFM Director Ellen Y.D. Kim said, “ACFM’s awards do not end in Busan. They travel on to Jakarta, Manila, Oslo and Bangkok.” We hope that the connections and opportunities that began in Busan will lead to new collaborations and that the projects recognized this year will reach wider audiences.
